Introducing.. Lozarez

Lozarez (formerly known as Chicken George) has been a stalwart on the Leeds music scene for a while now. Whether he’s producing tunes, co-running I Can Count records or tearing up dancefloors, he does it all with a big smile on his face and plenty of oomph. His DJ selections range from wonky funk and reggae all the way to techno via p-funk and indie.. so he seemed like just the right man to be the special guest at our opening night.

You can check out some of his own productions and mixes here : www.myspace.com/lozarez. For the party in January, Lozarez will be digging deep into his record collection to pick out dancefloor dynamite from across the genres… His top 10 looks a little something like this:

Prince - Sign of the Times
The Chemical Brothers - Leave Home
Coldcut - True Skool
Man Parrish - Hip Hop Bee Bop
Al Naafyish - Hashim (The Soul)
Ark - La Magicien Dos (Mr Oizo mix)
Galaxy to Galaxy - Hi Tech Jazz
Model 500 - Nightdrive
Dave Clarke - Before I Was So Rudely Interrupted (pt. 1)
Peter Tosh - Steppin Razor

January Poster

Our boy Earfworm Jim has very kindly provided us with this very smart print for our opening party in January. What do you lot think about it? We're chuffed!

We're looking for artists of all calibres to get involved by either submitting work to put on this here blog or to bring pieces down to our parties, so if you know anyone who might be interested tell them to get in touch - udioinfo@googlemail.com. Early on in the night there will be loads of work on display by several promising artists, accompanied by a sleazy soundtrack courtesy of our special guest, 5 Times. Top lad. We'll be putting up some more information about him soon so stay tuned..

Serious Delirium - Case Study 1

In true üdio style, our resident (dumbass) dj Earfworm Jim took it upon himself to engage in an act of serious delirium on Friday night when he dragged his drunk ass down to Madame JoJo's for their legendary deep funk party. You can normally find our inebriated resident Jim there, leaning on Keb Darge's shoulder whilst trying to fix his gaze on the records being played. However something tells me he won't be doing this anytime in the future..

Having jumped onto the stage, Earfworm Jim totally misread Keb Darge's gestures and picked up a glowing record from the deck and proceeded to read the name of the artist and the song title. Only then did he realise he was doing this in absolute silence since he had unwittingly removed the record that was being played as opposed to the 7" waiting to be mixed. Keb Darge pulled his microphone closer and said to the perplexed crowd.. "what the fuck is this chap doing eh!?" Although he does not remember the post traumatic stress too well, he does remember having an intense urge to bury his head under the ground. Does this explain where he got his dj name from? Godnose.

You can come and see more of his antics at the opening party of üdio where he will be playing plenty of his (and probably Keb Darge's) musical treats and later on involving himself in more acts of serious delirium.
